This is a 1954 Western Electric Model 354. The phone number (BEdford 2-4569) is from Bedford, Ohio. It is my understanding that this model (designed by Henry Dreyfuss) was produced between 1946 and 1958. This model was originally intended to be introduced after the model 302 (desktop version) was released in 1937. However, World War II wartime efforts resulted in delaying the release of the 354. The model 554, a wall version of the 500, was introduced in 1956, resulting in a nine year of production the 354.
