I am wondering if anyone can help me identify this camera .. it is of metal and brass construction, twin lens reflex and takes 120 film ... The aperture and shutter all work well but as the markings have rubbed off I cant tell what the range of each is .. also there appears to be a name plate at the top front of the camera but again this has worn away ...
The only mark I can see, as in picture 4, is what looks like a three bladed propellor in a circle with the letters A G C between the blades
The camera appears to be a c1932 "Brilliant" by Voigtlander & Sohn AG (Braunschweig, Germany). The shutter is probably a later Compur-Rapid model, but unfrotunately it's difficult to tell because most of the parts are missing. It was a very inexpensive camera at the time and is currently quite common as a collectable. However as you noted, a lot of the identification is missing - actually, the outer covering and identification badges are missing, and, the winding knob was replaced by a key of some sort. Thanks ... I dont think the winder has been replaced though ... it all looks integral and as if it belongs, the metal matches perfectly .. I cant see any actual 'repair' to it as such.
You say some parts are missing .... do you mean just the markings or something else as again I cant see any 'gaps' that would indicate an actual missing bit .. ?
Hi. The reference image I have of this camera shows a winding knob, but you never know if other variations were built. Yet anything other than a winder is unknown. As far as missing parts, without actually handling the camera, it looks like the cosmetic bits are missing such ash the plastic skin (or rubber or whatever) body covering, cover to the shutter housing and, the manufacture's name plate. Otherwise, I cannot say what else is good (or not) about the camera without actually handling it. Regardless, enjoy!
