These pins worn by "Bonded Representatives" (door to door Salesmen. Repairmen) of the Singer Manufacturing Company. It was Singer's way of validating their "official" representatives, thus alleviating the wariness of the housewives of the time. They knew that someone wearing this badge was honest, forthright, trustworthy, and an expert in their field.
The Rep's could supply training, complete a few onsite repairs, as well as introduce new products. The colors of the badges were to change monthly - another precautionary effort to prevent dishonesty!

AR8Jason,
Yes, I have seen two different kinds of cases used by Singer Rep's. 1) a metal case about 18-20" wide by 14-16" high. with a tool / parts drawer or two. The other was leather, similar to a wide briefcase. Neither are seen often - They are usually marked, "Property of Singer Manufacturing"
Thanksfor the comment, we appreciate them..
