Yes-- fireman hat. Is it as tiny as it appears?
The maker label in the hat and mark on the back of the insignia may help to date it.

Hi Scott,
I just noticed that the angle of the picture makes it look tiny! It is not though.. it is a standard size. I will look at the hat in more detail when I get home and post on here whatever written information there is.
