More treasures from the attic of the family..and mystery as well. I noticed a little label on one of these saying made by Suffering Moses in Kashmir. Getting on the internet I have found a few other clues. I was wondering if they were carved out of the Chinar wood...they are silky and each differently grained and toned. There was mention of these in an article about San Fransisco...the more I found, the more enchanting these tables are. With all the family gone, I can only guess at how they got into our family. There was a hand Block-printed set of Japanese `Sword and Blossom Poems`in 3 bound volumes with a library label from a family friend and I later then discovered she was a missionary to China in the 30`s and that is how the books ended up in our home. So too do I suspect the tables did. Alas, all that family too are dead. I would like to hear from others with furniture from Suffering Moses, a man who said only through suffering can one understand and create art.
