Bought these in a auction lot, boy was I surprized to find out they were Milk glass from the 1950s. Made by Hobe. Hobe et Cie was founded in Paris in 1887 by Jacques Hobe. His concept was to use fine jewelry techniques and non-precious materials to create jewelry for the middle class as well as for the wealthy. Brought to America in 1915 by his son William, Hobe jewelry was popular not only with everyday customers, but also with the Hollywood stars and such luminaries as Flo Ziegfield. Inspired by period jewelry of the past, Hobe jewelry had an historic flavor.
The name HOBE is synonymous with quality, especially in their earlier pieces. Although they made buckles and accessories in the late 1800s, their costume jewelry from the 1930-50's years are my personal favorites. Their wire-worked designs and fabulous stones create a unique old-world style. When they combine objects into their jewelry, they take creativity to a new high. Their Jewelry are works of art. These earrings would look so lovely in summer with a white dress and shoes....All for the love of vintage.....just love em !
