Where on it does it say it is gold?
I think Destiny meant gold (in color), not solid gold. This is most likely a premium gift given to employees. Difficult to find info online because it's still considered too new. Probably a $5 item if that.
I was told by a pawn shop it was gold plated.
The one I have is definitely gold color with tarnish on it. I am not sure what type of metal it is made of. The designs on the 1976 and your 1978 are slightly different. I'm curious what the black line near the top on both sides of your photos are? Are these cuts or just the way the photos came out? I don't think I would want to wear the coin I have on a pendant as it is quite heavy! LOL I'm not certain but I think these were given out to plant owners and/or employees as Christmas gifts. Did you acquire yours from a plant owner as well?
