This is an original Kar-Mi stone lithograph from my private collection of Magic Posters. It is a 1-sheet in "A" condition measuring approximately
28" x 41" The colors are very vibrant and the composition is a visually creative use of the horizontal 1-sheet that makes this piece spectacular!
This 1914 poster titled, "Swallows A Loaded Gun Barrel", advertises one of Kar-Mi's illusions in which he would demonstrate his power over nature's laws by swallowing a loaded gun barrel 2 feet down his throat packed with powder and a ball, then discharging it, breaking a cracker placed on a man's head with a single bullet.
Kar-Mi (Joe Van Victorina) was an Indian magician who toured the United States with a fifteen minute vaudeville act. Legend has it that he died of stomach cancer as a result of performing this gun swallowing act.

Kar-Mi's Karma.
Indeed!
i have a kar-mi poster somewhere too. it's different from yours, but very nice as well. i'll look for it and post a photo of it.
Your Kar-Mi poster might be titled "Selma" with a similar composition. Either way I would love to see it and I would be open to purchasing it if you are willing to part with it. Thanks.
