Anyone recognize what this originally was? It looked similar to some old Colts I saw online, but I don't know much about guns. I think its a fatastic paperweight, it has rusted beautifully, just perfect! So, anyone recognize what it was?

It could be an old 38 maybe
I just looked them up, it looks really REALLY similar! I'll take it out when I get home to do a comparison. Thank you very much, I think you might have identified it!

That would go nicely with my rifle:-)
Hi, this is a pretty good match for a Colt 'New Line' introduced in 1873. It was available in .22, .30, 32, 38, and .41 cal., short & long cartridges and a mix of rim & center fire. Yours appears to have a fluted cylinder which is correct, the loading slot, and the distinctive 'bird head grip'. Looks like a Colt, regards, Jim
Wow you're right Jim, thats a pretty darn close match, I think we've got a winner! Thank you!
