Here is 15 rounds of original WWII German Ammunition. As you can see on the box, Fur MG. For Machine Gun. This ammo will work in a MG34, MG42, or K98k Possibly a few other German weapons.
The ammo seems to be in great shape for being produced in 1940.

Good you are not firing it. Although it can be fired in a 98k, the machinegun round is a bit hotter and generates higher chamber pressures.
