A picker brought me these yesterday. I think that they have some age to them - by the enormous amount of cobwebs which came out of them. I think they are really cute and might keep them for myself or give them to family back east. does anyone know anything about them? any guesses as to their age?

As a maker of birdhouses, I can tell you that they took a long time to build but there is no real way to tell their age. They don't look like they have ever been hung outside as there is no weathering. To be absolutely functional, there would have to be a clean-out access door or removable section to take out the old used nest. I would hang these outside and see if they will attract any birds for nesting. They may attract some nice bluebirds or finches. Don't worry if they don't come the first year, sometimes it will take some time for the birds to finally nest in them, but once they do, you will have repeats every season.
i'm thinking of keeping them inside as works of art! i have so many birdhouses already, and these ones are just too nice.
i just found them on the net! they're new! can you see my face is red?!
new, old so what? YOU likem tony likesem i likem, keepem!
if nothing else, put them outside & put them to work! Fanciest bird-houses ive seen, imagine what the inhabatant's will say to the lower rent crowd!
yes, of course you're right and they will be put to work.
i put them up and they are functioning as spider houses until next spring. better the spiders live out in these houses than in mine.
