me and my soon to be husband are both into mid-evil looking items and we had just moved to this small little town and decided to drive around. we came across a bunch of what looked like trash at first on the side of the road as we drove by there was this chest it being close to Halloween i figured we could use it as a prop in our decorations with old skeletons and make it look like a fake pirates chest at best. once we got it home and looked at it more closely we thought maybe we should see what we could find out about it. Any information would be great thanks.

Looks like an early 1900's dome top trunk. Standard model and issue for its day. Nice that it has the interior tray. Pretty rough shape as you know. There were many companies making these and they all were similar in style and materials. Hope this helps a little.
thanks any idea what it might be worth?
i have three little girls ages 5, 3, and 6 months and i'm not so keen on having it in the house because its just not to safe for them and wanting to get rid of it
Your trunk is in such poor shape it does not hold much value -- take any offer you get.
