This is a bowl (basketball shaped) that my mother used for sugar during my entire childhood (I am 52). I now have it on my counter and I'm using it for the same thing. I'm just curious as to whether anyone has any information on this type of glass item. It has no marking or lettering so I have no idea how old it really is. It does have a tin lid.
Any information anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

looks like a Hoosier pumpkin jar/canister. Does it have a flat bottom to sit on or is it rounded; the early Hoosier jars were rounded and sat in a metal stand.
