In 1907 Eljer bought the pottery plant in Cameron, West Virginia. What they did there was turn the plumbing world on it's ear! A Porcelain tank! Prior to that, toilet tanks were metal clad wood. In the first picture is a vintage advertisement for the round tank. In the second picture, 27 men from the factory are standing on one of the tanks to show its strength. The third picture shows one of these 105 year old wonders STILL IN OPERATION in Cameron, West Virginia.

This is amazing, as a friend of mine moved into a new (old) apartment last week, and she now has one of these crazy round porcelain gems! Thanks for the history.
