Here is an Underwood Model 6-11 typewriter I picked up at the Antique Weekend held twice a year in Rountop and Warrenton, Texas. It was my first time to the event and it was a blast. So much stuff to see, it was a little overwhelming.

I have never bought a typewriter before and thought this would be perfect for the office. I payed $50 for it, but probably have to put in an additional $50 to get it to perfect working order.

If I had it to do over again, I would have made sure it worked and tried to talk the price down a bit if it didn't.

One thing to watch out for are on older models are really worn out carriage straps. The carriage straps are normally made from some type of cotton (like a shoelace) or waxed string. This strap allows the carriage to move when you type or press the space bar. This is probably the easiest things to fix and is the reason why mine doesn't work at the moment.

Now that I have purchased the Underwood typewriter, I will probably pick up more because they simply are that cool.

I wrote up an extensive article on Underwood Typewriters for those that want to check it out. http://antiqueoutings.com/underwood-typewriter/

I think you did ok. Is the beveled glass missing on the sides and back? Can't tell from you shots. Collectors who look for these are wanting them close to mint as possible with all the working parts. If you have everything there, it can be repaired.

There is no glass on the sides or back. It is completely open.
