I recently inherited this GE record player/radio from my grandfather, and I'd like to know a little more about it. My dad said he thinks they got it in 1962-ish. I'm pretty sure it's been sitting in the same spot in my granddad's dining room since it was bought because of it's [great] condition-the wood is still shiney and there are no dings on it. It plays 33's, 45's, and 78's. Both the radio and the record player work, but I'm sure the needle hasn't been replaced in a few decades. Anyone have any idea of it's value or any other cool info about it?
Steph, I think i have the same record player. AM/FM works great the the turn table doesn't turn. Quick check on Ebay looks like it might be worth at least 100.00 bucks
I have an old record player and radio combo. It also plays 45's, 78's and 33's.
It is probably from the 40s. That's a guess. It says General Electric on the front. The radio is in the front and a drawer pulls out for the record player. You can store records on the side or in the bottom shelf. Any idea how much it's worth?
David- my turntable stopped turning today! nooooo! i did a little research and found this website that looks like they might carry a turntable belt though! AND... i think they're in the $5-$15 range! they even have a video on the site to show you how!

Steph...Usually these turntables dont have belts. They were direct drive and 99% of the time the grease that was used at the factory has turned into a thick viscous gluish substance. If you get into it you will see the little motor that drives everything. try to put a thick oil anywhere where parts look like they move together. these rarely break...they just get stuck.
Steph I had 1 of these until my ex husband destroyed it on me, but if you require more information about it you could try ringing up General Electric and give them the serial number on the back and they may be able to help with what you need to know, I can remember mine was RC and about 5 digits after it and it shocked them that at the time until it was smashed it was all in working order
thanks guys! I did realize that the turntable does NOT have those belts i was talking about previously (thanks Eddie!)... it started working just fine when I called my dad (who's old enough to understand how these work-ha!) to come take a look at it. I guess it's gone and decided to be a little touchy now in its old age!
