This silver container measures 9" high and 4" wide on each rose-embossed side. It is heavy, weighing in at around 4 lbs, with soldering marks in the corners of the bottom. (No mfg. marks can be found anywhere on it.) The lid fits very snugly as if meant for liquor or possibly ashes. I don't know it's original origin or use, but it looks beautiful all polished up. The best part... it only cost $5.00 at the antique store!

Can anyone tell me anything about this container?
Though it is beautiful, I have no idea what it was used for!
