Haven't been to Mexico for many a year but find it strange that it has a dollar mark in front of the "5". Have they gone off the peso? Also didn't know Mexico was using the bi-metal insert coins. Have I been out of circulation that long? Hope somebody can fill me in.
It is still the "peso" in Mexico but they started using the $ on their coins in 1980. May be to make the American tourists feel more at home.
I believe this is for real. This is a modern day 5 pesos coin. ....I think?
Thanks bratjdd,fdm,BELLIN68,vetraio50,blunderbuss2 and mustangtony
They got poor ole Poncho?!!! I haven't been in Mexico since '84 and see anything that would encourage me to return. Don't remember the $ on the money then or bi-metal.
Thanks mrmajestic1
