    what is this, hair ornament? fan? victorian or native came from an estate has a real bird in the middle feathers, handle is embroidered possibly made of birch bark.

      I'd say Victorian fan.

      It is a fixed fan from probably 1880s North America. It is similar to those made in Brazil around the same time but you can tell it is from N. America because of the Birch Bark and it probably has a sparrow or swallow on it instead of a hummingbird.
