We recently inherited this sewing machine. One photo shows an emblem that appears to be H & ??, another photo has what appears to be a serial number. We have no history, my father-in-law was a collector of many things and we are not sure when or where he purchased the machine. We are interested any information you can give us about the machine. Thank you very much for any help you can give us.

It's a German VS machine, the letters on the logo are H and N, this stands for Haid and Neu. Haid and Neu were a long standing company from 1860 to after WW2. I would guess this one dates around 1920-30.
