Imperial German Prussian Regimental porcelain beer stein with lithophane scene. The stein features different scenes with soldiers on guard duty and on leave. One panel depicts the reservist being assisted over the garrison's wall by his Fraulein, apparently because they broke the curfew. This is a very unique stein and I have not found another like it. It formerly belonged to Reservist Reichling who served from 1902 to 1904 in the 98th Infantry Regiment. The stein has a roster of the fellow reservists that served with Reichling in his company. The lithophane scene on bottom is of a man and maiden dancing. The pewter lid features a soldier seated holding rifle/beer and an eagle. The hand painted and embellished stein has very fine detailing and is in very fine condition. There is very minor very light wear in areas of the very bottom (redish) band otherwise the stein is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or crazing.
