What is this and how old is it? lol
A friend of mine gave this to me because she was going to trash it. It is 22 inches long and has "Italy" on it. The "blade" part of it isn't sharp. I don't know what it is.... an extremely long letter opener? haha.
Thanks!

A tourist type of item, maybe?
????? Neat piece ????
I haven't a clue in the world what it is James. lol
There are human figures on both sides of the handle, but they are in different poses. Pic two and three show the people in the middle of the handle.
I added another picture (#4). These are the only other markings on it. They are on the blade.... 3 leaves and scroll work, it goes about half way down the blade.
I didn't even see that on the blade until you said to knock some of the rust off!! lol Thanks for suggesting that!
Nope, no fine lines. The blade isn't sharp at all and to me it seems as though it never was. I think you're right, we should go with the smart lady in post #1. lol :)
Wonder how old it is. Any ideas?
It's not brass.... some kind of metal that has been colored to look like brass, pot metal I guess.
Ok, thats kinda what I was thinking. Thanks my friend!
Non the less, original or not, it is cool.....
