Hi, I am a keen metal detector hunter, yesterday I dug this out of our orchard, I believe it to be an old carnelian intaglio but I really know nothing else other than this. I was hoping some bright spark out there could fill in the blanks for me.

Could this be used as a seal by pressing it from both sides of paper to leave a raised image?
