About US Fancy Cancel Stamps
Fancy cancels are stamps that were canceled with an interesting mark or pattern. These are typically earlier stamps, which were hand-canceled before the advent of mail processing machinery. Many local post offices designed their own cancellation stamps, resulting in a diverse variety of attractive cancels.
