These recent Folk carvings are made from a wood new to my skills. I found a piece of seasoned cedar wood and found it to be, not only reasonably easy to whittle, but smelled great too! I love the scent of pine and now cedar. A lot of my recent carvings are made from cedar now.
In this grouping I have "Gator" - "Dapper Colt" and "Dilla in my Garden". I have lived in Florida now for about 7 years in a home I named Junglehouse. There is a decidedly tropical flare to my recent artwork.
Gator is 24" long and 8" wide.
Dapper Colt stands 12" tall.
Dilla is about 9" long and 4" wide.
All are made from cedar and painted in acrylics.
