This is my grandmothers antique sewing machine. Anyone have any idea what is might be worth? The cabinet is in excellent shape, the machine inside has some wear on machine but that's it. The first picture is one I found of the model. The second is the actual machine?Eric
It all depends on the condition of the machine . What condition the decals are in , if the machine has any rust or not . How dirty it is . If it is missing parts , paint . Does the head move smoothly or is it froze up ? Are there attachments with it and an instruction book ? Just because the machine may move that does not mean that it will sew . Those are all things to take into consideration when placing a value on a machine . The only way to do that is to see it in person . It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it depending on it's condition . It is impossible to tell anything about it from the above photo .
Would an antique guy be able to appraise it?
What does a typical machine like this usually go for? I saw that it was made in 1879 according to SINGER.
Erikj: An antique guy might be able to appraise it if they see it in person . Also are you sure that you read the Singer charts correctly ? Some people do not understand them . If you give me the serial number I could tell you if you got the date right or not . Like I said before it all depends on the condition of the machine and the cabinet as to the value . I have bought them for as little as $25.00 on up to $ 200.00 depending on condition and what the model of the machine is .
