I got a lovely red windup toy car with part of the original packaging and manual. Could anybody tell me more about this toy? When and where it was made?
It was part of an inheritance of a close family member. I hope there's a cool story behind this :-)

It has following inscription at the bottom: “JNF PROTOTYP Porsche PAT. ANGEM”. “MADE IN GERMANY U.S. ZONE”.

    Thanks!

JNF was founded in 1920 by Joseph Neuhierl in Fürth, Germany. The Company name, JNF, is formed out of the first letters of his name and the town of Fürth. In WWII, the Company had to produce for warfare, like many other toy Companies. In 1945, the US Army therefore confiscated all production facilities. Production at the JNF facility started again in 1947. - circa 1945-1955

I asked for a cool story, and I got one! Thanks aghcollect for your detailed background check.

I’ve tried to reconstruct the cars history. It must have been purchased in Belgium during the early 50s, because the “manual” is written in French. Then locked away in a cupboard, never been played with.

May have been brought back by an Allied soldier from Germany - remember, they also had French Zone and British Zone. The circa pre-1955 is based on anything made after that will usually say Made in West Germany, Western Germany, or simply W. Germany. - Its in pristine condition (keep the box too)
