A. E. Penfold Signature Golf Ball circa 1940s
Albert Edward Penfold (1884–1941) began his career with the Silvertown Company working in golf ball development. In 1919 he joined Dunlop until leaving in 1927 to form his own company, Penfold Golf Ltd. manufacturing golf balls and other golf equipment.
In 1941 on the 17th February, A. E. Penfold was lost at sea when the MV Siamese Prince was torpedoed by a German U Boat off the coast of Ireland.
