Mini Candle Holder. Pot.tery

This is another little thing that belonged to my Gran. It is old as far as I know. It has something written in an Asian script on it in black. There is nothing underneath.
It appears to be a really diddy little candle holder. It is pottery I think as the underside is pinky/brown.
It is just so sweet.
I would love to know if anybody has any ideas on what it might be?
