Another of thw old tools found in the old tool box. This is a TrucuT Cutlery Limited snipping shears. These are stamped Los Angeles Trade Mark Reg. Pat.Aug,3 1926. These are about 12in long and still function great. Does anyone recognize them I cant find them anywhere. Is this any early version of the modern tru-cut? Just looking on info to date these or info regarding them.
The same design is still used today. This pair is right handed because the bottom jaw flares out to the left. As you cut a sheet of metal the flared lip raises it so you can grab it with your left hand and keep cutting without the shear binding up. Believe it or not today they come in sets with color coded handles. There are different snips for cutting circles etc. from the left or right. These you show would probably be seen as aviation grade snips. They are also used for cutting roof shingles and sheet lead etc.
