My mother fell in love with an abandoned, dilapidated house built in 1875 on the main of a small Midwestern town south of Chicago. It was known as a ghost house and boarded up. The house had been ransacked many times with people slashing old divans and knocking holes in the walls looking for cash. But what remained was a treasure trove of a different kind. This lamp was found in the Henry Gross house and harness shop. It is in great condition and is in use as my bedroom light.

This "Vase" or "Banquet" Lamp probably started life as an Oil Lamp. It looks like it has been electrified. It dates late 1800's-early 1900's and looks like it has it's original matching shade....nice find! BOB

You are right--I think it did start as an oil lamp.
