This homemade bullet pin which possibly is still live measures 3- 3/8" long and has FA 41 markings on the shell. I'm wondering if it is in fact a world war 2 bullet and if soldiers made these? There is a pin soldered on one side and a metal(2 rifles in an ex sign with the numbers 113 above) refer to pics. Thanks
WW2 .50 cal round with officer collar insignia from the 113th Infantry Regiment.
Hard to say who made this or when. Not sure what the intended purpose was either.
The powder has most likely been emptied, but the primer may still be intact-- don't beat it with a hammer and you will be fine!
The 113th was originally attached to the 44th Division, but was detached after Pearl Harbor and stayed stateside.
Online search for "113th Infantry Regiment" will give you the full history on the unit.

As always, Scott was right on the mark with his information. The only thing I can add is that the headstamp on the cartridge case indicates it was made at Frankford Arsenal (FA), Pennsylvania in 1941.
