    I can't think of any other purpose for this table top drawer other than for jewelry. I've never seen this type of joint before either. Can anyone provide me with some info on it? Thanks for looking.

      I could be wrong, but it looks like a man's valet that would sit on a dresser. So yes, a jewelry box of sorts.
