Narrow chair, may have been in a church. Dimensions are 48" high x 8" wide (chair back) and 14.5" wide seat, reducing to 8".

chairs of this style were used in ballrooms for ladies to sit and wait for someone to dance with. They are narrow so many chairs can be placed around the room.
There are probably other uses for this chair too, but I am only familar with the one I mentioned. good luck
