Where and when did this unusual table come to be?

Please help! I am going crazy trying to identify the origin/age of something I picked up at a garage sale. This is a coffee table I bought in Hawaii. The man I bought it from knew nothing about it except his parents had had it as long as he had been around. I would guess that means it is over 50 years old at the least. It came with glass on the top. The paint has chipped off pretty badly on the legs and there is a grayish white layer beneath the brown / black. There is something written on the underside in red, picture attached. Several things about this indicate Asian/Chinese but it just doesn't look like anything I can find online. Thanks for your help!
