Boy Herding Cows Down A Country Road - Art

I found this painting in a small shop. It had been removed from the frame and has been cut, I assume to fit the frame it was in earlier. It was laying on a table top and I purchased it for $4.00. The back shows it is painted on art canvas board. I guess the signature was cut off when it was cut down to fit a frame? Does anyone know the artist or anything about it?
Coming from a rural SC area.... I loved the setting, character and overall appearance.
