Vintage Chair, Thrift Store Find. Need Help Identifying, Please

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site and have enjoyed reading all the posts (and checking out all the great stuff). I found this cute chair at a local thrift store and need help identifying and dating it. It's a dark wood and looks like it may have been re-stained (the middle slats on the chair back has areas where it's Red, kind of like chips of varnish off). The cane on the seat bottom is broken and I'm not sure if I should fix it? There is a label on the bottom that says: B.C. Co., NYC. Can anyone help dating and identifying who made it?
