Just bought this trunk and am hoping to restore it. It's covered in a black thick paper material. The emblem on top states it's a Globe Trotter made by Wellen and Sons NYC established 1894.
It's 25" high, 22" wide, and 38" long.
I'm unable to find anything about the company or the paper material it's covered in online. If anyone could offer some information that would be great.

The covering is called "vulcanized fiber" and it is incredibly difficult to get off -- I know I tried one once -- couldn't get it done. Too many layers and typically underneath is plywood so the effort it not worth it. Do not know anything about the company but it looks like a 1910-20's era trunk. I know it's been two years, so I was wondering if you ever finished restoring this trunk. The company was actually owned by my great-grandfather and his father. They opened it in the late 1800s and it closed down when cars became more popular and steamer trunks went out of style.
Hello RockyRacoon...I recently rescued on of these trunks from a junk pile recently and was very shocked that someone would just toss this beautiful piece of history away... The trunk is in amazingly good shape for its age.. Any more information you could provide me about this trunk and possible value would be greatly appreciated...I have not been able to find much of anything on the net...Thank you....Reu74
Hello I know the post is rather old however my father passed away and left three of these trunks two foot locker sort of trunks and one large trunk. Any additional information on the company would be great. Value is helpful too. Thank you
