please help me identify my old lamp

This lamp has been in my family for many years. It is marked A.L.S. 557 on the bottom. I am trying to find out who the maker is and what would be the most appropriate shade to try and find. I currently use a cloth shade. I dont ever remember a glass shade on it when I was growing up but believe that a slag shade is thw kind it should have. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks
