Bet you haven't seen one of these! Insulator

Something I came across, a 3' in length, top 6.5",middle plate 13", bottom porcelin 7". very heavy ,but a rare find.
Any ideas of what it was used for? I believe it must have sat on a transformer? Any ideas feel free to comment.
