WW II Japanese Officer's Shaving Kit

Here is a WW II Japanese officer's shaving kit, complete with the case. The razor has it's own box and the handle is telescoping. There is a small compartment inside the case for the razor box. The mirror has a stand on the reverse side. I am not sure what the piece with the red cross is. If anyone knows please advise.
