Guild made a lot of novelty radios back in the 1950's which were very collectible even then. The radio is loosely styled on the lamp the Town Crier used to carry shouting hear ye, hear ye! all is well etc etc. This model has 8 tubes and is from 1956. There is also a rarer transistor model see last pic.
