First Nations Rug?

I could not walk away from this at a thrift store. I found it so interesting. I think it is a rug but not for walking. The wear pattern tells me it was for sitting. Of course, I am just guessing because I am not an expert. I am trying to figure out where it is from. Could it be mountain goat wool. I am a dreamer????!
