The old dress was new 'old stock' from the mid-fifties. Made from acetate - still had its tags and belt - unfortunately the sleeves and part of the skirt were badly faded from a navy blue background to a burgundy. It was no good for selling as it was.
The new dress for ANNA MARIE ended up being almost the same style: wrap front with lapels, rhinestone buttons, 4 gore skirt. At some point during the construction, the new dress became an homage to the old dress - so I put the rhinestone buttons down the front, and used the underarm zipper down the back for easy access - then I sewed all the old tags into the bodice of the little dress (now I really can throw away all the scraps)
