This is a sled I used as a child. My father remembers having it when he was young. He is now 90. I have only seen this sled one other time on your site. It was posted about 3 years ago by a man wanting information on it. I have not been able to get any more information on whether he found anything about it or not. His did not have the original boards, but I do believe mine does. I can not find any markings on it. I can tell it was painted red at one time. If you notice there is a spring like structure on the runner for steering. We were from North Dakota and used it extensively on the hills where the steering capability came in handy. The round runners kept you atop the snow more like a tobaggan. It is 14" wide and 48 1/2 " long. I would love to find out a history of this sled.

I also have one! It use to be my moms. I remember it was the only one she used when we went sledding as kids. I'm 55 and she was 88 as of February 28th 2022 when she passed. I believe it also was not American made.. because on my fathers side my great grandparents were French Canadian (I live in Michigan) and on my mothers side my great grandparents came from Germany which is neighbors to Switzerland. Iam currently restoring it using your photos as reference so I can make the boards. Mine was also like the other members where someone screwed a piece of plywood on it. However my mom put foam then vinyl upholstery over it so it was cushioned for her.
When I'm done adding boards like yours using some reclaimed cedar boards from my moms garage with will be adding her name down the center plank. " Betty Jean" I figured since no one knows the name of the sled I will use my moms ????
