Asian rice storage chest. The top slides open one inch it is locked . Paper lined interior. I would like to acquire any information about my chest. Thank you.

What a beautiful piece! Try looking at Imperial Huali rosewood, gilt brass rice dispenser. It appears to me to be a one off piece made for imperial court. The script on the paper liner looks like Lishu script. Great find!
On the lock and latch the peacock is a symbol of dignity and beauty, crane, immortality. peony, wealth and distinction. the script on lock a xingshu or running script.
to find a key for the lock is fairly easy. measure the length of the barrel, and duplicate the opening for the key and match it. If the key slot is rectangular the key will resemble an oyster fork. I would love to have the script translated on the inside.
