I'm guessing this may have been a victrola cabinet? The is some sort of old speaker still in the upper half. Found at a flea market for $10, I couldn't pass it up. I did some minor repairs but pretty much just gave it a good cleaning.

I hate iphones.... can't get the pictures upright even after moving them to my laptop (look good on laptop).

I will probably restore this at some point, but in the mean time I think we'll use it as a bar. There is room in the drop front compartment if bottles are tipped in and up next to the 'speaker'. Otherwise we can display them on top (the nicer bottles).

The fabric on the 'grill' was an orangish almost silk material but was badly degraded. It pulls out easy enough that we can replace it with a matching color.

I'd still like to know more about how this worked. It looks too old to be an actual (electrical) speaker and appears to be more of a mechanical horn like an old record player would use. I haven't seen anything like it in my searches.

Found one close that somebody 'repurposed'. I couldn't ever do that, but it was in pretty bad shape: http://createinspireme.blogspot.com/2013/06/radio-cabinet-revamp.html

They mentioned it was a radio cabinet.
