    This beautiful covered bowl belonged to my Nanny. I don't know what it was meant to be used for. Perhaps a trinket box? I believe it was made in the 1940s.

      I received the answer from a member of the Noritake Collector's Society. It's part of a dresser set called a covered jar. Probably made circa 1917,
