Should I get this vintage motorcycle with no title?
I have a chance to get a 1967 yamaha 100yl1 for $200. It hasnt been started or run or seen the light of day in over 2 decades. Its been in a garage, and stored dry. I want to get it, but the motor in it is seized and it has no title. It has an inspection sticker on it from Indiana from 1973. It is now where I am in SC. I have had a ton of people say no not to get it, and a few saying yes, jump all over it. This bike has been eating me up for the past 2 weeks, and I'm afraid I wont ever see another deal like this again. A 67 yamaha for $200! But is it worth it since it doesnt have a title.
I know about the bike through my friends girlfriends dad.It was his bike back in the day.
Let me know your opinion on what I should do because I cant seem to get this bike off my mind, unless I can get more opinions on what I should do.

I believe you can get a policeman to come and run the numbers to make sure it was never stolen and fill out some paper work. Then I think you can get a salvage title.

thanks man. but I didnt get it,, yet. I did tell the guy $150 and he said no, that it wasnt enough. He said he could part it out for more than that. I wanted it so bad that right after he said he decided to keep it and get it running, I said fine, $200, but havent heard nothing back

well, the biggest problem will be getting a title. it was last registered in 1973. According to him, it has never had a title!!! Him and his wife drove it for years back in the 70's, but here's the strange thing. His wife had health problems, and she died while riding it of a stroke!!! bike is scraped on the pedals a bit, but nothing bad at all! cant really tell its been ditched! But since that night, it hasnt been run since. It was last registered in Indiana in 1973, as you can see by the inspection sticker.

As for getting a title, the current owner has early alhesiemers and heart problems, and is always out of town, and I can already tell will not comply when I go to get a title and info, if thats possible!

As for what else is wrong, with it, who knows from what they just told me. hasnt been run in 20 years. felt the tank, tank isnt rusted, but has dirty dusty stuff in the inner inside of the tank that looks like rust on my finger when I checked for rust. its pretty complete. Just needs a new seat, and a $300 engine overhaul. I know someone that can do it for me.
