  11. The true history, and info lies inside.There should be a peg in the handle part you can punch out, and the blade comes out...If you google dismantling Katana sword you will see, the peg may be covered...

  19. I've seen stones with buildup on them...My experience is that it is from soap buildup from a woman doing dishes through the years, and most of the time in my case they were genuine diamonds.
